2007/8 Photography Workshops and Photo ADVENTURES Announced!

Our world is constantly changing and my workshop and adventure itinerary is no exception. I am pleased to announce five new trips and workshops that will be introduced over the next two years.

MOUNT RAINER WILDFLOWERS - July, 2007

For the next couple of years, the mountain wildflower workshop will be held in Mt. Rainier National Park rather than in Glacier NP. Against the stunning backdrop of Mt. Rainier, the photography opportunities are endless. Reflecting lakes, carpets of wildflowers, waterfalls and glaciers are all subjects for this intensive program.

ALASKA BALD EAGLES - CHILKAT RIVER - November, 2007

Thanks to a late salmon run and a warm river, close to 4,000 bald eagles congregate along the Chilkat River to feast on the bounty of fish. This trip is designed as an intensive wildlife photography workshop. In addition to the eagles, you will have the opportunity to practice newly acquired skills and techniques at a wildlife center on captive animals indigenous to Alaska including wolves, lynx and arctic fox.

TANZANIA - SERENGETI BABIES AND MAHALE CHIMPANZEES - February, 2008

With the coming of the spring rains, the herd of 1.5 million wildebeest have moved south from their winter range in the Masai Mara to feed the emerging short grasses. In just a few short weeks, as a defense against predation, some 300,000 wildebeest calves are born. When added to the other antelope and zebra births, babies are everywhere as are the photo opportunities. It is also a time of the predators as lions, cheetahs, hyena, jackals, and vultures abound. We will also fly into Mahale Mountain National Park for three days worth of trips into the jungle to photograph a number of chimpanzee groups that are being studies there.

THE FLOWERS OF MONET - June, 2008

This is an advance flower photography workshop with field work to be held in Giverny, France on the estate of Claude Monet, the founder of the impressionist movement in painting. This intensive learning course is designed to introduce you to a variety of techniques that can be used to create impressionistic and abstract images of flowers and landscapes. The "reality" look will be trashed in favor of creating images that are more "art" than documentation. We will also have the opportunity over a two day period to explore the wonderfully scenic Normandy countryside.

WHALES, TOTEMS, AND BEARS - A SOUTHEAST ALASKA PHOTO CRUISE - Early July, 2008

While the final details are still being worked out, this will be an eight day cruise aboard a privately chartered, eight passenger research vessel to various points along the scenic, inland passages of southeast Alaska. The itinerary will include humpback and orca whales, brown bears, sea bird rookeries and abandoned Indian villages and totem poles. Details should be finalized and posted in November, 2006

It all adds up to a full schedule of photography workshops and photo adventures for 2006 led by nature photographer Mark Lissick. These workshops and adventure will afford you the opportunity work with and learn from a master nature photographer while photographing in some of the most beautiful locations both in the United States and internationally.

Gone (or going) digital? The 2007/8 workshops and adventures have been enhanced to provide you with professional assistance to help you master the intricacies of the digital camera technology. In addition to learning how to improve your photographic vision and composition skills, Mark will show you who to get the most of the new digital equipment.

Field sessions, illustrated lectures, critiques of your field session photos, as well as extensive daily field shoots with a schedule designed to maximize your time with Mark and to take extended advantage of the location all add to the fun and excitement of these informative workshops.
