ON-LINE
PHOTOGRAPHY
COURSES
MARK'S EIGHT WEEK
PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES ARE DESIGNED TO IMPROVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE
AND HELP YOU TO CREATE STRONG VISUAL IMAGES JUST LIKE THE PRO'S.
While
looking at a stunning visual image, have you ever wondered "How did the
photographer do that. I wish I knew the secret." In reality there are no
real secrets to creating a stunning visual image. To do so the pros
use the same techniques and methods that can be learned by anyone. Like
Mark's field mentored intensive workshops and educational photo
adventures, the goal of the on-line courses is provide you with an
opportunity to learn new techniques and skillS and help you hone your
photographic vision.

COURSE
FORMAT
All
the courses are comprised of stimulating weekly lessons,
assignments designed to nurture your creativity, and
honest constructive PERSONAL critiques. In combination, they can
lead you on a journey to create your own personal imagery that can be
visually compelling.
LECTURES
Each
week you will be emailed a new lesson that contains lecture and
discussion information and color photographs exemplifying the lesson.
The weekly lesson plan is sent to you in an MS Word (.doc) format
that is easily download and printed.
ASSIGNMENTS
Along
with the lecture material will come a shooting assignment which
will provide an opportunity to put into practice what was contained in
the lecture. The assignments are designed to provide you the direction
and guidance needed to master the topic at hand and to develop a
strong compositional and aesthetic eye as you approach the creation of
an image.
From
the time you receive the weekly lesson you will have approximately 10-12
days (covering two weekends) to complete the assignment and upload 1-3 images on to
the light table for review and critique by Mark.
CRITIQUES
Years
of experience with the field-based workshops has shown that immediate and
constructive feedback from a professional photographer of one's work
is the best and quickest way to improve your photographic skills. It
is the single most anticipated event in any of my workshops. Within a
week of submitting your assignment you will be sent a personal
critique covering insight into your photographic approach along with
helpful suggestions and tips.

MASTERING YOUR
METER AND UNDERSTANDING EXPOSURE

This
eight week course gives you an understanding you how your camera's
metering system works and how to use this tool to improve your creative
image making. With all of the technological advances in cameras over the
last ten year (both film and digital), photographers are having an ever
harder time mastering the basics of their camera's metering system.
Questions ranging from "What metering mode do I use?" to "How do I meter a
scene?" and "How do I use what the meter is telling me so that I can
create a strong visual image?" are still being asked. This course will
teach you about the different metering systems in your camera, how to
understand what your meter is telling you, make correctly exposed images
without having to bracket, and how to use the meter information for
maximum creativity.
Intended for: Photographers
who have a working knowledge of aperture and shutter speed settings.

CREATING IMAGES FOR
VISUAL IMPACT

If you are technically
proficient but still find yourself saying that your images don't look
anything like it did on location then you are struggling with your
artistic vision. This eight week course introduces you to techniques that
will help you expand your creativity and enhance the visual impact of your
images. As our camera's are excellent recorders of information, artistic
expression must come from within ourselves and not the camera. With this
understanding, this course will spend time discussing lighting, exposure
and compositional techniques than can be used so that the resulting image
communicates the same vision and feelings to the views as it did to you
when on location.
Intended for: Serious
amateur and intermediate photographers who have a working knowledge of
aperture and shutter speed settings. This course is designed to be taken
either by advanced level photographers (intermediate level) or the
completion of either the Designing Images or Photographing
Flowers course.
